keep the harp clean. Don't play when you have been eating choclate. The harp gets a lot clearer if you dip it in a liquid just before playing. Giving the harp some bear, really thrills your audience, but it does not promote the longivity of your harp.

If you play the harp often, it may only last a couple of month, making harp playing not so inexpensive as expected. It is possible to tune a harp that has gone out of tune by using a file. But it requires some skill. You will find that often the tuning does not last long and after a while the metal tounge that you have tuned will break. Filing off the midle of the metal toungue will lower the pithc, while filing on the end of the metal toungue will raise the pitch, you need a good tuner to check the tuning. Putting a piece of paper under the tongue will make the filing operation easier.
